We are considered “home” to fifteen Resident Organizations that represent a cross-section of the major disciplines including but not limited to visual arts, dance, theater, art education and film.

3rd Law Dance/Theater creates, presents and promotes original performances drawing on theatrical, classical, modern, historical and traditional dance. Third Law seeks to create provocative, entertaining performances that engage the audience as well as the artist. The company believes in the value of storytelling and the evening-length works favor narration over abstraction.


One Big Yes Productions, LLC

One Big Yes Productions is a Boulder, Colorado-based dance company comprised of 70 women over 40.  The company is fueled by technical talent but feeds on soul.  The cast includes dancers with over 30 years as career professionals (from Rockettes to avant-garde modern dance company members) to courageous women with less than 5 years dance training.  One Big Yes Productions brings something refreshing to the cultural table; a very large group of women who collectively embody their sensuality, authority, humor, and depth and leave their hearts on the stage at every performance.  They define seasoned elegance and apologize for nothing.  Every infectious production to date has inspired the audience to stand, applaud, and stomp their feet.  The mission of One Big Yes Productions, under the artistic directorship of Nancy Cranbourne, is to inspire and include as many women over 40 as possible into our process through the sheer joy of dance.  We accomplish this through classes, workshops, rehearsals and performance.  We transform the perception of what it means to be over 40 by simply being luscious, grounded, fierce women who burn across the dance floor.


Boulder Ballet

Founded in 1982, Boulder Ballet is Boulder County’s professional ballet theater company and school. The company presents classical and contemporary works throughout Boulder and the Denver metro area and collaborate with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. Boulder Ballet School provides excellent ballet training for ages three-adult, in a uniquely artistic and creative atmosphere. With superb technical and performance abilities, many of their students have earned regional and national honors.

Boulder County Arts Alliance is a non-profit, 501(c)3, membership-based organization. The Arts Alliance provides leadership, resources, and advocacy for the arts, through grants, Business of Arts workshops, exhibit opportunities, free event calendars, and more!


The Boulder International Fringe Festival

The Fringe festival is an annual 12-day arts festival that includes theatre, dance, music, film, and visual art. Each year, the festival chooses between 70 and 100 artist groups through an open and public lottery. The unjuried nature of the Fringe Festival ensures a creative platform for the entire community. Fringe programs to date have explicitly featured seniors, kids, people with disabilities and culturally diverse artists as well as mainstream artists. The Fringe is accessible to all audiences and seeks to educate and engage  the  whole community.


Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC)

BETC’s mission is to present professional quality performances of challenging or controversial plays. The four ensemble members guides the artistic vision of the company in collaboration.  In addition to the ensemble members, BETC attracts accomplished guest artists from across the Front Range, as well as CU-Boulder and Naropa Universities.


Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra

The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra is a fully professional, year-round symphony orchestra which performs at CU’s Macky Auditorium under the baton of Music Director Michael Butterman. The Boulder Phil reflects and fosters all that makes Boulder special―its creativity, spirit, beauty and quest for knowledge. By connecting people to orchestral music, we strive to be an essential part of our community’s cultural fabric.

The Upstart Crow is a classical ensemble theatre company. It produces the world’s greatest plays uncut, with a deep respect for the integrity of the text, the playwright’s intent, and the actor’s art.


CenterStage Theater Company

Founded in 1999, this children’s theatre company based in Louisville is led by Jeanie Balch and Amy Austin and supported by dozens of volunteers. The productions, with local children ages 6-18 in all the roles, receive enthusiastic reviews each time they are presented. Parents of the actors overwhelmingly rave about the positive atmosphere their children experience in this theatre company.

EcoArts is a unique collaboration of science, environmental, arts, and other organizations increasing understanding of climate change and the delights of living sustainably. Through an amazing array of performances, exhibits, talks, and tours, EcoArts offers innovative programs designed to inspire, educate, and empower us all through activities sparked by the arts.


Helander Dance Theater

Boulder-based Helander Dance Theater was founded by Danelle Helander, Artistic Director and Choreographer. HDT has presented a new concert every year since 1980, making it the longest, continuously producing dance company in Boulder. HDT’s mission is to make a vital contribution o our community through dance as a vehicle for creating greater understanding, sharing, and healing of our local and global communities.


Imagination Makers Theater Company

Imagination Makers is a professional, adult theater company that tours to schools in the Boulder/Denver area. The primary focus is to perform original plays with high production standards for children and teens. The company has toured successfully in Colorado for 23 years, giving about 2,500 performances and reaching over half a million young people.


Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet Company

Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet was founded by dancer and choreographer Robert Sher-Machherndl in 2004, its mission is to bring change and new possibilities to the field of dance and its audiences via the performance of unpredictable and unexpected works that take risk and go somewhere meaningful. In a short time, Lemon Sponge Cake has received wide critical-acclaim, noted for Robert Sher-Machherndl’s uncompromising artistic vision and signature choreographic style danced by highly skilled performers and quality collaborators. “Funny, dark and provocative, ‘Trust’ was a highlight of the program” The New York Times and ” a choreographer to watch for” The New York Times

Committed to education, the Lemon Sponge Cake Ballet School offers a training ground for both young and adult dancers, it identifies and nurtures individual strengths for freedom of expression for professional use or as a life enriching skill. It hosts a fully comprehensive ballet program to students age 3 through 18 taught by expert teachers. We also offer open community classes to adults of all ages and abilities in a wide range of disciplines.

Lemon Sponge Cake builds community in numerous other ways, it enlivens schoolrooms with performances at no charge, donates theater tickets to at-risk families and under-served communities and through inclusive community projects.


The Parlando School for the Arts

The Parlando School for the Arts Parlando offers music and musical theater lessons and classes to nearly 700 students each week.  Parlando offers instruction to students of all instruments, ages and abilities and provides tuition assistance to more than 100 students every year.  Additionally, Parlando provides more than 100 days of supplemental music education to BVSD classrooms, brings inter-generational programming to area retirement communities and produces an annual staged musical at the Dairy Center.

Stories on Stage creates programs from the belief that literature is a rich source of powerful stories and actors enhance the impact of literature on people’s lives. We present literature by writers of diverse cultural groups, read by professional actors of varying backgrounds to an audience that is as broad-based as our community.
