The Dairy is comprised of 18 amazing Resident Organizations. The organizations listed below are permanent residents of The Dairy Center for the Arts. These organizations pay rent at less than half the market rate leaving their hard-earned funds for programming.

The Watts-Hardy building, a 40,000 square-foot dairy processing and storage facility abandoned in the late 1980's now promotes dance, theatre, music, literary arts, visual and media arts all under one roof. The Dairy Center for the Arts provides an affordable home for artists and art organizations, and encourages appreciation and growth of the arts through programming, education, advocacy and outreach.



3rd Law Dance/Theater

3rd Law Dance/Theater creates, presents and promotes original performances drawing on theatrical, classical, modern, historical and traditional dance. Third Law seeks to create provocative, entertaining performances that engage the audience as well as the artist. The company believes in the value of storytelling and the evening-length works favor narration over abstraction.

Boulder Ballet

Founded in 1982, Boulder Ballet is Boulder County's professional ballet theater company and school. The company presents classical and contemporary works throughout Boulder and the Denver metro area and collaborate with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. Boulder Ballet School provides excellent ballet training for ages three-adult, in a uniquely artistic and creative atmosphere. With superb technical and performance abilities, many of their students have earned regional and national honors.

The Boulder International Fringe Festival

The Fringe festival is an annual 12-day arts festival that includes theatre, dance, music, film, and visual art. Each year, the festival chooses between 70 and 100 artist groups through an open and public lottery. The unjuried nature of the Fringe Festival ensures a creative platform for the entire community. Fringe programs to date have explicitly featured seniors, kids, people with disabilities and culturally diverse artists as well as mainstream artists. The Fringe is accessible to all audiences and seeks to educate and engage  the  whole community.

Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company (BETC)

BETC's mission is to present professional quality performances of
challenging or controversial plays. The four ensemble members guides
the artistic vision of the company in collaboration.  In addition to

CenterStage Theater Company

Founded in 1999, this children’s theatre company based in Louisville is led by Jeanie Balch and Amy Austin and supported by dozens of volunteers. The productions, with local children ages 6-18 in all the roles, receive enthusiastic reviews each time they are presented. Parents of the actors overwhelmingly rave about the positive atmosphere their children experience in this theatre company.

Frequent Flyers Productions, Inc (FFP)

Frequent Flyers Productions blends stunning aerial choreography with technical modern dance. The work is lyrical, as movement flows effortlessly from the aerial apparatus to the ground and vice versa, extending the possibilities of both realms. Considered a pioneer in aerial dance, the company's shows include site-specific and proscenium pieces on a variety of apparatus: low-flying trapeze, bungee, ladders, car parts, cargo nets, rope and harness, and invented apparatus.

Helander Dance Theater (HDT)

Boulder-based Helander Dance Theater was founded by Danelle Helander, Artistic Director and Choreographer. HDT has presented a new concert every year since 1980, making it the longest, continuously producing dance company in Boulder. Imagination Makers Theater Company

Imagination Makers is a professional, adult theater company that tours to schools in the Boulder/Denver area. The primary focus is to perform original plays with high production standards for children and teens. The company has toured successfully in Colorado for 23 years, giving about 2,500 performances and reaching over half a million young people.

Institute For African American Leadership

The Institute for African American Leadership (IAAL) is a program of United Black Women of Boulder Valley, a non-profit organization that provides social, educational, spiritual and emotional support for African American families who live in Boulder County. IAAL services the unique needs of our African American youth between the ages of 10 to 18 by providing leadership skills development, community building skills, enhancement of personal growth and self esteem, and encouragement of academic excellence. This is done through activities like cultural field trips, educational workshops, community service, exploration of the arts, and celebration of cultural traditions.

International Tap Association

The International Tap Association's mission is "to promote the understanding, preservation, and development of tap dance as an art form." ITA currently has over 730 members in 27 countries including tap performers, teachers, choreographers, students, historians, writers, critics, producers, presenters, companies, studios, schools, universities, libraries, and fans. ITA offers members a variety of services including its magazine "On Tap." Founding members included Charles "Honi" Coles, Honorary Chairman and Gregory Hines, Honorary President.

Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet Company

Since founding Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet in 2000, Robert Sher-Machherndl has produced 14 original evening-length works. Called by The New York Times critic Jennifer Dunning "a choreographer to watch for," Sher-Machherndl's mission is to integrate pointe technique with contemporary movement sensibilities and explode its limits as an instrument for commentary on modern life.

Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet School offers a world-class dance experience. It hosts a fully comprehensive ballet program to students, age three through eighteen, taught by expert teachers. We educate, encourage and support students by recognizing and nurturing individual talent. In addition, we offer open community classes to adults of all ages and abilities in a wide range of disciplines.

The Parlando School for the Arts

Theatre13 is a non-profit professional resident theater company located in Boulder, Colorado dedicated to performing regional and world premiers of unusual, distinctive, and inspiring works of the highest quality.
